Wardrobe Malfunctions With Cloak And Dagger

If you haven’t already heard, Cloak and Dagger, two Marvel heroes who may or may not be mutants are getting their own TV series. Cloak whose real name is Tyrone “Ty” Johnson who has the ability to create an aperture into the dimension of darkness as well as the power to become intangible and teleport and Dagger whose real name is Tandy Bowen, she has the ability to create psionic “light daggers” which travel wherever she wills them, and which drain living beings of vitality when struck. Since there fateful meeting that turned them into Cloak and Dagger, the two have teamed up in an effort to help runaways and fight drug crimes and drug dealers.

With all the excitement surrounding the two now that they are starting to get their time to shine in the spotlight and nothing is shining brighter right now than Dagger’s outfit. Artist Kate Beaton creator of the comic “Hark, A Vagrant!” has taken the opportunity to highlight why she feels Dagger’s costume is just a bit, impractical. She has written more about the subject and sums up her overall thoughts about the problem with Dagger and briefly talks about the problems surrounding Dagger’s partner, Cloak.

I had a lot of fun with this on twitter, so I just kept on going with it. But you know, I’m always kind of touched by how strongly fans support their favourite characters, and there is a lot of love for Cloak and Dagger, and you can see why because there are some pretty great things about that pair. But that costume, come on, it’s a big old slice of tit window pie. They don’t always dress Dagger like that, but yeah they mostly do! But they probably won’t on the tv show!

I didn’t dwell on Cloak very much in a comic about tit windows, but, here’s something. I tweeted this essay a while ago when I read it, but Cloak’s lack of a body really brought it to mind again, and you should totally read it, though mostly it is about the character Cyborg, it is relevant here too:

Humanity Not Included: DC’s Cyborg and the Mechanization of the Black Body by Robert Jones, Jr.

Seriously how does she get that outfit to stay up?

Here is what’s next!
